Puppetry

By Ruth Calder Murphy

To escape from puppetry

is no easy thing.

The question is you see,

what to do with all that string?

Run?

It will trip you.

Tiptoe?

It will tangle.

Cut it

and suddenly,

you cannot stay;

all support has gone

and the world’s

a big unknown -

and full of scary mystery

to one running away...

To escape from puppetry

is no easy thing,

because however frightening,

one must,

first,

cut

the

strings.
