Rehearsal

By Ruth Calder Murphy (Arciemme)

When the sets all fall down

and the best costumes tear,

when the words won’t come out

and the directors swear,

when the orchestra’s tuning

is painfully bad

and the lighting won’t work

and the comedy’s sad,

when the curtain comes down

just before the last song,

you know it is just

the rehearsal, gone wrong.

So prop up the props

and re-fuse the lights -

and smile, for it’s always

alright on the night.
